Serving Our Community
Mountair has long been a community of people who want to serve the community. Over the years that has taken many forms. In recent years, this service has not been as obvious, but that doesn’t mean it hasn’t been happening. Below are the things we’re doing now and we’re working on more to come!
Food Bank
The food bank is meant to help people get through a couple days with small amounts of food. There are larger providers, such as The Action Center, that provide more food, so we try to fill the gaps for people. The food bank is open Monday–Thursday from 8:30–12:30.
Token Day
The 1st and 15th of every month at 8:30 we distribute bus tokens, small amounts of money for laundry and prescriptions, and food. We are limited to 30 packets of tokens and a set amount of cash. If the 1st or 15th falls on a weekend we do this the following Monday. If you are interested in helping please contact Richena at mccdoc@mailml.com or 303-237-5526.
Whiz Kids 2
Whiz Kids 2 is a tutoring/mentoring program for middle school students. The receive one-on-one help with homework, develop relationships with adults who can help them gain valuable life skills, and have teaching and conversation about biblical topics. For more information or to learn how you can volunteer, visit the Whiz Kids website.
Annual Events
Halloween Bash: Each year we organize a fun and safe place for neighborhood kids to come and enjoy Halloween. We have games, crafts, and of course lots of candy! Each year we’re working to partner more with the local community in putting this on.
Thanksgiving Dinner: This is held the morning of Thanksgiving Day. We serve people here and deliver meals. Last year we served about 450 meals. Please contact us if you’d like to volunteer or for more information.
